Stan Dodsley from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada stan1@idirect.com sends along a couple of great looking projects. He had an interesting start at woodworking. Stan, originally from England, started his hobby by making model ships from old apple baskets.
"Here is a little project of
mine. I call it the Western Star. I had video-taped a friend's
truck and then replicated it as a model. Under the hood is the
engine and inside the cab are the seats, stearing wheel etc. The
Western Star was my attempt to make a replica of my friend's
truck. I video-taped his truck to use as a reference and then I
went to work.
The project took me about 1 month to complete of 3 hours on weeknights, and 8 hours on a day of the weekends. Along the way I created various jigs to speed up future projects.
The Truck is mainly composed of pine. Many of the smaller components were made from scraps from other projects (RECYCLING AT ITS BEST). There are many moving parts such as the wheels, doors, engine hood. Even the Sleeper-Cab Roof can be lifted off to look inside".

Stan says that "if I was asked to pick one of my projects, as my favourite, it would probably be my motorcycle".
With the obvious amount of time & work which went into it, I can understand why he chose this project!
