Projects of Sidney Doe

Sidney Doe of Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada CHIPPYSID@AOL.COM has sent in his latest project.

"Here is my latest weekend project - a 7 person heptagon shaped picnic table."

"This grandfather clock case is 7 feet high and is made of solid black walnut. It was fun to make as I had to make moldings and turn the spindles. The face on it is just a piece of cardboard. I also inserted a mirror in the back. I have yet to put in the glass and movements - it took me about a year to get this far."

"This is my grandson receiving his potty chair. It's made of pine and clear coated. I copied it from a picture as I did not have a "plan". It doubles as a basket ball game."

"This is a wheel barrow planter, i down loaded from free plans. The wheel turns so you can move it wherever you want to on your lawn. This is handy when cutting the grass. It's made from scrap wood and treated with wood preserver."

"Here is a Martin house made from 1/2" plywood. The pole is plastic pipe filled with concrete."

'This is a lamp sconce,,, I made a pair of them. They are made of pine, and stained with mahogany and clear varnished. Note the mirror insert in the shape of the chimney."

"Here is a beanie baby display I made for my granddaughter. It is from a popular magazine."

"This is a riding space shuttle. I made it for visiting children to ride, but for some reason, they get to take them home. This is my third one. The front wheels are casters, which make it turn sharp."

"This is an easel type chalk board I made for my granddaughter. It is real slate."

"These are outside pieces of furniture. On the left, is a glider. I got the idea from seeing it in a store. I estimated the size of the cradle and came home and made it. I have no plans. I made it out of memory and it worked out fine, so I decided to make the rocker on the right also."

"Here is a cribbage board truck I made from a magazine plan. It is made from scrap wood, and finished with clear varnish. It was fun to make."

"This is a crokinole board I made. It is made of pine and mahogony plywood and is a fun game."

"My grandaughter wanted a scooter. I rememberd when I was a kid, they were made of wood. I had a pair of 8" wheels, and some clear spruce 2x4's & plywood to put your foot on, two 1/2" bolts and 1/2" copper pipe to make a sleeve for the bolts."

"This is a door bell my Granddaughter made for me. It now hangs on my door. It consists of pine and acrylic paints, and a cow bell."

"This is a potato and onion bin. It is made of 3/4" plywood. It has 2 drawers and a phony drawer on at the top. This project has no plans,,, it was just an inspiration. I plan to make 2 more for Christmas gifts."

"Here's a handy reel every ice fisherman should have in his ice hut. It's made from plywood. The plans came from Weekend Woodcrafts February 2001 #43. issue."

"This is a Queen Anne coffee table I made from selected spruce. I was practicing on a cabriole leg. I was satisfied with the leg so I kept on going and made a coffee table. I put a design on the top to avoid any endgrain stained and varnished. It kind of gave it an antique look. Now I am planning on two end tabels and a footstool."

"Here is a Queen Anne end table. There are no plans since it is inspired by my coffee table. I put a drawer in it for my favourite woodworking magazines. I have a Queen Anne footstool on the bench."
