Jens has made a great looking trunk and here's a shot of it. He says,

"I just built my first steamer trunk and will end up building three of them, two for grandkids Xmas "

"I built this portable chicken coop so I can have fresh eggs It is 8 feet long with a coop on the end of it. It is mounted on wheels so I can move it to different parts of my yard. I have two Rhode Island Reds that are about 4 months old so they should be laying late fall nice brown eggs."

"This is a TV cabinet I built for my wife for our anniversary. It is all Oak and pocket screwed constructed,Finnished off with Min-wax."

"I finished the Ottomans and got 5 coats of Min Wax Helmsman clear stain."

"Also some planters and my screen door sample"

"I built this for one of my grand daughters and will do another for her sister."

"This Pot holder is from a plan from Wood magazine. It is 3/8 inch oak and 4 coats of Laquer on it.

The Table I made a long time ago, but I restained it."

"Gee, after a tough winter here in the Seattle area, I think we are ready for the summer breeze to come in to the house. This screen door is made with 5/4 Vertical Grain Fir,  5/4 x 4 for stiles and 5/4 x 6 for rails. Finishing is 1 coat of Cabot Early America oil."

"This is another door that I engraved with a Cocker Spanial. The lady (Lee) was so excited about it, that it made me feel like I had touched her heart and her doggies. It will get black hinges. I used white vynal lattice for the center section."

(For better viewing, a closeup of the engraving is shown to the right.)

"I built a band saw box for a very special friend of mine for Xmas - her name is Lee. She is the same person I refurbished the rocker for. The box has Walnut, Alder and Birch in it and I stained it with a pecan stain, with some Deft spray lacquer over it.

"This is my latest project. I built it for my daughter for Christmas - it's mostly alder except top and bottom which are 3/8 ply. It has an ebony stain to match her decor, and it has a drawer on top and magazine rack on the lower section."

Plan Information: Wood magazine, March 2001 - Issue 131

"I'm doing some work for an older lady, and she gave a chair to me. She told me that she had rocked all her kids in it, the oldest of whom is now in his 50's. So I decided that I was going to restore it and give it back to her."

Her children are Rob, Erin, Megan so I put them on the back for a little memory.

"Here's a CD/DVD storage cabinet on the left that I made for my daughter for Christmas and an end table that I did for my wife. I used Minwax Polyshade on the table and Varathane on the storage cabinet."

"Here is a wine rack I did for a couple in town. It is birch ply and ash face frame with pine cross hatching. It will hold around 140-150 bottles when full. I put on a dark walnut stain with three coats of Deft satin spray for the top coating."

"This is my latest loft bed. I did it for the 8 yr old girl's birthday gift from her parents. You should have seen the look on her face!"

"This is a Platform bed I did for a lady in town. I used Hemlock and Cabernet Varathane stain on it. It sits around 4" off of the floor. Not to far to fall if you roll out to fast." (haha)

"Here's a bed I made for my daughter and son-in-law. I used 1 x 6 tongue & groove pine."

"I finally got our new bed done. Here are some shots of the process from the clamping of head board, to the finished product."

"Next will be a matching chest of drawers.

The wood is white ash. It was 1 1/2" thick and was planed to 1". I saved over $300.00 planing my own wood compared to purchasing from a big box store."

Here is another of Jens' projects. It's a cup and saucer display shelf built
for a friend of the family.

"This is how I spent my Labor Day weekend.
I built this coffee table for my wife to use in the bedroom."

"It is oak glued up 4 inch slabs and Golden Oak stain"

"This is a medal and ribbon display case for a friend of mine who is in Bagdad as we speak. I gave it to his wife whom I work with and she almost went to tears. I used pine and poster board behind the material. We all pray for his safe return and all others over there."

Here are a three of Jens' latest projects including a small shaker style wall cabinet, a swivel picture frame he did for his wife for xmas and a coat rack/shelf unit.

Here is his 'built-in' home and shop janitor, who I hear loves her Grampa's workshop and ice cream payments. ;-)).

"Sure is cold here - in the teens is very unusual, so I had no choice in the matter as what to do this weekend. Build, build, and build. I did a open cabinet for my lovely wife to get more counter space opened up and also did a catch all rack. The cabinet is 5/8 maple veneer plywood and Golden oak stain with Oak trim and dark walnet stain."

"Just finished with Grandaughters loft bed. It turned out reallly nice. This was made completely from pallet material, run through my DeWalt planner.

Of course I had to spend a few dollors on it, like plywood for the mattress bottom, and desk top. Other than that, I only bought 3 pieces of pine for this project."

"I laminated maple and birch to form a block. Then I sliced off the back, about 1/2 inch. Then I cut  out the drawers and then sliced off 3/8 inch front and back. Next, I glued the back 1/2 inch slice to the back so it looks like an open void. Next I cut out the drawer itself which is cut from the top of the drawer to the bottom of the drawer so that when it is cut out, it looks like a big letter U with a flat bottom. When that is done, I glued the front and back on the drawers.

Then comes the sanding and flock the draweras with felt and glue. When it is all sanded, I run it on a buffer with waxes to polish it."

"Here's an afgan and quilt rack I have been working on. I'm hoping to get them sold here this fall."

"Here's a vanity I did recently for my granddaughters which had to be "Barbie pink".

"I put this bench together this weekend. It is 5/4 cedar with a dado band on the legs. Nothing fancy but it will do for me out near my greenhouse."

"Here is a fun project I did last weekend. I saw a picture in a web site and it looked interesting so I attempted to do it. All pigeon holes are dadoed in.  Have not decided whether to stain or just leave natural and oil it. It is 3/4 birch plywood and trimed in Alderwood.

"I had to build one that was portable on account of no trees and no porch. Wonder why it is called porch swing? It can be mounted on a 4x4 upright frame and also be on the frame as shown. It is made of hem fir 1x4 and 2x6 frame for the swing to hang on."

"The finish is oil base white paint applying three coats on top of a primmer. I learnt one thing on this project and that is next time, I will pre-paint all parts before cutting and assembling of it: then all there is to do is paint the cut ends."
