Projects of Michel Moussette

Michel Moussette of Laval, Québec, Canada michel.moussette@sympatico.ca joins our group of exhibitors. Michel says, "I'm 59 years old and have been retired since 1991. I have two sons and 5 grandchildren that keep me very busy. I've been woodworking since I was a child and got into my first serious cabinet making at the tender age of 13. I have two workshops, one here in Laval, Québec and one at my country house near Mont-Laurier, Québec. I do quite a lot of renovations (as I have skills in many trades), cabinet making etc. I'm particular fond of recycling wood,,, it's a challenge. It's incredible the amount of wood that is wasted by companies." He describes his projects below.

All the projects currently on this page are new projects!

"This biplane is made of oak and American walnut. The plan was from Woodworker's Magazine."

"When I learned that I was going to be a grandfather, I felt the need to welcome the new baby by building this cherry cradle/crib. As of today, my 5 grandchildren have slept in it and I am considering putting a bronze plaque bearing the names and DOB's of all the baby that used it."

"The grader was made of oak and mohaganny (cratewood) from a picture. I made a plan and, it worked. The scraper can be rotated."

"The SUV was made of oak and is well liked by the grandchildren. It was made from a plan in Woodworker's magazine."

"The wooden train was made of yellow birch and mohaganny from cratewood.

There are some mighty fine pieces of wood that you can get from crates. The plans were purchased online."

"The tow truck is an oldy. It was made over 25 years ago for my sons but is still one of the favorites of the grandchildren. It is made of pine."

"The elephant is one of many pulltoys that I made while at my country house during the summer. Although I would have thought that they would outgrow the interest, my grandchildren still drag them along. It is made of pine."

"The child's vanity was made entirely of pine, even though the plans suggested plywood for the mirror frame. I used 4 pieces of pine, glued them (with double no. 20 biscuits), and trimmed it according to the plan. I got the plans from Binky's site located at www.binkyswoodworking.com/."

"The tractor was made of 5/8" BC fir plywood. I made two of these. One was painted red and black and the other green, yellow and black. They were my Chritsmas gift to my  two eldest grandchildren. Although it was a lot of work to build, it is fun to watch them play with these. They left aside all other gifts, at Christmas to play with them. Plans were purchased from U-Build, no. 610."
