"I made this violin back in 2000. I have never attempted to make an instrument before. My 19 yr. old son has become a very good violinist as well as playing other instruments and I really wanted to make an instrument that could be handed down not only to him but to his children's children. I was not satisfied with the quality of its sound but it plays well enough to practice with around the house.
I decided not to put any purfling around the front and back since the tone was nothing to brag about. The top is made of spruce I got from "my second home" Home Depot. The back, sides, and neck are flat sawn maple I bought at a local hardwood flooring dealer. I hope to use quartersawn flamed maple on my next violin."

"I built this corner china cabinet for my wife. I'm self-employed and had about a week and a half off to build and finish the project. I found the plan on the net. The original plan called for pine with a painted finish. I decided to use red oak and finish it to match our dining room table. The back panels and shelves are 3/4" oak veneer plywood. All my material was bought at Home Depot. The faceplates are biscuit joined and the doors are half-lapped. The faceplates and doors are solid oak. Lower door panels are 3/4" oak veneered plywood."
