Ring-Toss Game,,, Perfect for a last minute gift!
If your looking for a fast, easy & inexpensive last minute gift for one of your little friends or relatives, this project is for you. It's a fun and competitive game of ring-toss - it's so simple, you won't believe it.

All you need is the following:
- a scrap of plywood about 12" x 12" (mine was 13 1/4"W by about 14T)
- a package of Mason jar lid rings
- hooks from a local hardware store (threaded long hooks are best,,, easier for the rings to land on or hook)
Make a drawing of a pleasing shape and transfer to your scrap plywood. Cut out your project with a scrollsaw or jigsaw. Decide where your hooks will be located and drill pilot holes. If you have a router, roundover all edges. Otherwise, ease all edges by sanding.

Finish sand the project.
Assign a value to each hook by one of the following means:
- glue on store bought small wooden numbers (as I have)
- afix numerical value decals by each hook
- paint numbers on the board by each hook
Apply 3 coats of varnish or your choice of finish and allow each coat to dry before proceeding with the next.
After finishing and when totally dry, reattach the hooks.
The game can be played by either leaning the board against something as I have done in the photos above, or by attaching a small hook on the back of the board for wall hanging. The players stand about 3 to 4 feet or a comfortable distance from the board and toss the rings at the board attempting to have them snagged by one of the different valued hooks.
After an equal number of rings - 5, 10, or 25 rings,,, the number of rings is the players choice - have been tossed by each player, numerical scores are added up and the highest number of points wins!
Have a game with your young friend or relative,,, it's fun!
