"This was my first project ever. I used Birch plywood for everything and veneer for the sides. Bought some trim at the local store. It is 7 ft tall and about 28" wide. There are four of these in my room/office in my house. The Shelfs are all adjustable and it sits about 4-5" off the floor. I also put a little 1%-2% grade from the front so the books stay on the shelf. I stained it with a Mahogany. Sprayed about 5 clear coats and then sanded it down so smooth. This took me about 4 weeks to do on the weekends and nights. Really took my time with it to get it right and make sure."

"My youngest son "LOVES" Thomas the train. So for his third Birthday, I built him a Thomas the Train table set like you see in the Stores. I purchased most of the material from the local Home Depot at the "lost wood" rack. Pieces that people cut up and/or returned. The top is made out of MDS board. Really hard stuff with some paint on it but I didn't care as I was going to paint it anyhoot.

The frame that the top is on, is 2X2 pine boards with 3X1/2  pine boards around the table. This was all secured by carpenters glue and 2" screws. The side and what holds it up, is scraps from around my shop and is birch plywood.

I got the height by going to the local toy store and measuring one.

I routed all the edges so nothing gets caught on the edges. I took Thomas the Train engine to my local store and matched the blue to it. Painted it and the top painted green with blue for lakes and rivers. Then added some minor details to break up the colors a little bit. I bought Thomas stickers from Michaels on sale. Next I put a couple of clear coats on it. I started  this on a Saturday morning and worked about 9 hours that day on it. Sunday, was mostly painting the coats and letting dry about 2 hours in between that. The rest of the week about 1 hour a night doing touchup's and clear coats."
